911,784. Lamp standards. ABACUS ENGINEERING Ltd., and PRATT, J. W. Sept. 14, 1961 [Sept. 15, 1960], No. 31746/60. Class 20 (1). [Also in Group I] A street lighting column comprises upper and lower tubular parts which are hinged together at mid-height and includes means operated from the base of the column to turn the upper part about the hinge to bring the lamp within reach of the ground. The parts in the normal upright position are locked together and the arrangement is such that the operating means disengages the lock in its initial movement. A rod moved longitudinally inside the column by a crank or an electric motor moves the two parts of the column about the hinge, the two parts being spring loaded to return to the upright position. At the foot of the column are two vertically spaced plates bolted to the framework of a ground anchor.
