[Also in Group XXVIII] A device for sorting into two groups a number of cylindrical bodies, such as rods and pipes, comprises a first inclined support 12, 12<SP>1</SP> on to which the cylindrical bodies are delivered, a second inclined support 29, a shoulder 13 by which the cylindrical bodies moving along the first support are stopped, a gate 27 which, when opened, allows a cylindrical body to drop through the support, electrically actuated means 22, 23 for lifting the cylindrical bodies in succession from the first support 12<SP>1</SP> over the shoulder 13 on to the second support 29, electricallyactuated means 26 for opening the gate 27, and electrical control means which are designed to be set by a number of switches 31-34, one for each cylindrical body, and which are so arranged that they actuate in succession the lifting means 22, 23 and at each actuation also scan the position of the switch associated with the lifted cylindrical body in order to also open the gate 27 when one of the switches is operated. As shown, four pipes 1-4 are placed in a tank 10 and tested for leakage by introducing water into the tank and supplying compressed air to the interior of the pipes. If one of the pipes is shown to be leaky, say pipe 2, the corresponding switch 32 is actuated which causes a contact 42<SP>1</SP> to touch a contact 42<SP>11</SP>. A motor 17 for a controller drum is started up and switches itself off after one complete revolution. During this revolution a contact lever 19 is brought four times into contact with a contact 20, e.g. by means of four cams on the drum to actuate an electrically-operated valve 21 which conveys the pressure fluid to the piston-cylinder device 22. Simultaneously, with each actuation of the contact lever 19 one of the contact levers 51 to 54 is actuated and if the switch corresponding to the lever actuated has been pressed, an electrical circuit is made through a valve 25 which supplies pressure fluid to the device 26 so that lever 27 is pulled downwardly.
