918,570. Preserving tool edges. FOUNTAIN, L. S. July 10, 1961, No. 24881/61. Class 61. [Also in Group XVII] A tool rack or tool box comprises a lubricantretaining trough or base and a pad of material in the trough or base impregnated with a rustprohibiting lubricant, the rack or box being adapted to accommodate tools such that the tool edges are in contact with the impregnated pad or semi-absorbent lining thereon. A tool rack, Fig. 1, comprises a top tool support consisting of a pad-retaining member 1 housing a pad of material 2 having a single slit 2a or a number of individual slits through which tools such as wood chisels 3 can be inserted blade downwards. A lower tool support 4 comprises a trough which accommodates an absorbent pad of greater depth than the trough. The troughs are connected by end members 6 having rear flanges 7 apertured for attachment to a wall. In a modification the top tool support comprises a bar embodying a number of holes or spring clips. In another modification a wall mounted tool cabinet houses a number of tool racks. In another modification, Fig. 3, a tool box having a liquid-tight base 8 is provided with an impregnated pad 9. The pad may have a flat upper surface or recesses 10 to accommodate and locate drills, taps, scribers or the like.
