Abstract
The invention comprises salts of organic bases with acid dyes of formula <FORM:0918292/IV (b)/1> and they are made by treating the dye with the required base. Rings A and B may be further substituted, e.g. by Me or Cl. The starting dyes are, in part, disclosed in Specification 495,662. Indicated bases include 2-ethyl-hexylamine, cyclohexylamine, bis-(2-ethyl-hexyl)-amine, dicyclohexylamine, dimethylcyclohexylamine, dimethylaminopropylamine, cyclohexylpropylene-diamine, dipropylene-triamine, benzylisothiourea, diphenylguanidine, orthotolylbiguanidine, 3-aminopropanol, piperidine and mercaptobenzimidazole. Mixtures of bases may be used. The dyes are yellow and insoluble or slightly soluble in water. They are used in varnishes and printing inks (see Group XV). Examples are provided of the preparation of the salts.
