918,183. Handling radioactive material. ASSOCIATED LEAD MANUFACTURERS Ltd., and McFARLANE, K. June 14, 1961 [Dec. 7, 1960], No. 42128/60. Class 39 (4). [Also in Group XXV] A universal mounting for supporting a manipulator in the shielding wall 13 of an enclosure containing radioactive material comprises a sphere 10 of lead having a tube 15 for receiving the manipulator (not shown) and carrying spindles 18 rotatable in bearings 20 carried on the inner surface of a lead shell 11. The shell is slotted at 16 to permit movement of the manipulator and has a pair of bearings 21 on its outer surface, these bearings receiving spindles 22 integral with a lead housing 12, the spindles 18 and 22 being on axes extending at right angles to one another. Specification 868,524 is referred to.
