Abstract

917,777. Extracting sugar. WEIGELWERK A.G. Sept. 1, 1961 [Oct. 15, 1960], No. 31504/61. Class 127. [Also in Group I] In a screw extrusion press for pressing out sugar beet slices the screw sections on the shaft are constructed as filters, and have conduits leading to apertures in the shaft. Each screw section 4, 7, Fig. 1, consists of a solid part 4a, Fig. 2, having on either face distance ledges 11, Figs. 2 and 3, to which are secured plates 12 having apertures 13. The conduits 14 between ledges 11 communicate with the interior of the shaft 2 by apertures 3. The ledges 11 may be arranged radially (dotted lines) or non-radially (full lines), so that in the latter case alternate conduits diverge towards the shaft. Preferably baffles 5, Fig. 1, are also constructed as filters.
