Abstract
917,699. Reciprocating pumps. APPLIED POWER INDUSTRIES Inc. May 3, 1961 [May 26, 1960], No. 15956/61. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXVI] A fluid pressure actuated pump comprises a motor piston 48 engaging a spring loaded pump piston 50 which draws liquid from a flexible reservoir 67 and delivers it to an outlet 114. The motor piston is moved in one direction by the spring loaded pump piston and in the other by air pressure from a pipe 17 under the control of a distributing valve 40. Supply to the valve 40 is controlled by a valve 26 opened by movement in one direction of a lever 12 which is pivoted about fulcrum pins 82, 83 and movement in the opposite direction opens a by-pass valve 98. An arm 101 of the lever 12 is clamped to the screwed fulcrum pin 83 which has a finger 100 actuating the valve 98. The air flows through apertures in the portion 38 of the valve 40 and through the passage 45 into the motor chamber 46. The chamber 46 has a vent 49 and when the motor piston reaches the limit of its stroke, a port 54 is uncovered, Fig. 3. Compressed air flows through passages 55, 56 and acts on the portion 40 of the valve to close the inlet, thereby opening the chamber 46 to exhaust via a recess 41 and passages 42. The valves 25, 68 and 98 may be removed by unscrewing the threaded plugs in which they are mounted and the valve 37 removed by unscrewing the plug 36.
