Abstract

915,728. Road rollers. ETABLISSEMENTS J. COUTHON. Dec. 20, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 43786/60. Class 6(1). A vibrating roller is mounted on an arbor 3 attached to a frame 2 on one side of the roller so that the opposite side of the roller may be driven close to a projecting obstacle. As shown a roller body 8 is rotatably mounted on the arbor 3 and a sleeve 4 by means of rubber mounted journal sleeves 7, 5 respectively, the sleeves being attached to flanges 10, 11 in which is journalled a tubular vibratory shaft 15. The roller is driven by means of a belt drive from a motor M which also drives the vibratory shaft through a belt drive 21 which passes through an opening in the sleeve 4.
