Abstract
914,834. Anodizing aluminium. NYOMDAIPARI KISERLETI UZEM ES LABORATORIUM. Jan. 4, 1961, No. 397/61. Class 41. Aluminium or aluminium alloy offset printing- plates are prepared by anodizing the aluminium plate first in HNO 3 and then in H 2 SO 4 . Preferably alternating current is used at about 3.5 A.S.Dcm. for the first stage and 0.9 to 2.5 A.S.Dcm. for the second. In examples, plates of Al, Al/Mg, or Al/Si alloy are cleaned with alkali and acid, and rubbed with CaCO 3 , and then suspended in dilute HNO 3 and electrolyzed for 20 minutes. After washing the further electrolytic treatment in dilute H 2 SO 4 is effected. The plates are then washed and dried in a current of warm air. It is stated that the relatively large pores in the oxide surface so made exceed 0.1 Á and readily absorb the resins and gum arabic used in the printing ink.
