Class 40 (7). In an arrangement for determining the accuracy of shooting from aircraft at an airborne target the signals generated by four coplanar microphones symmetrically positioned around the body of the target in response to the passage of a projectile in the vicinity thereof are transmitted over separate radio channels to a ground station and recorded as separate traces on a record sheet. The particular quadrant of space surrounding the target through which the projectile has passed is then given, knowing the disposition of the microphones, by the air of (adjacent) microphones which produce maximum signal traces. If the apparatus is suitably calibrated the distance of the projectile from the target may be determined by the amplitudes of the recorded signals.
