Abstract

A device for use in hair treatment (e.g. highlighting) comprises a clip which may be conveniently manufactured in plastic and comprises two flat plates (1 and 2) of rectangular shape being joined by an integral hinge (3), for example of flexible plastic. The plates may be closed together by flexure about the hinge (3) and fastened in the closed position by means of a latch (4). The inner faces of each plate have an applied strip of a retentive or absorbent resilient material such as rubber or plastic foam or plastic wool (5). These absorbent strips may be secured for example by projecting spikes (6) which penetrate the strip, or may be permanently or releasably bonded to the surfaces of the plates. Tinting cream may be applied to one or both of the absorbent strips and selected tufts of hair are each held in a cream coated clip; the clips are easily placed and fastened using one hand only, allowing the other hand to keep a secure grip on the tuft of hair. <IMAGE>
