Abstract
900,408. Knitting-machines. BARTON, E. A., and BARTON, A. Dec. 29, 1958, No. 41808/58. Class 74 (2). A warp-knitting machine of the type disclosed in Specification 318,267, has a bar of needles operating in co-operation with an endwise reciprocating warp thread guide bar 8 to produce spaced warp-knitted chains and a weft thread from a supply is laid from selvedge to selvedge to extend through the warpknitted chains, by weft thread laying means 1, 2. The main levers 11 carrying the guidebar 8 are disposed substantially horizontally and upper warp-thread guide means are disposed a short distance above the main levers. The weft thread layer arms 1, 2 are pivotally mounted at a level in the region of the lower part of the needle bar. The warp-thread supply beam is driven by an electric motor mounted on the machine. The reciprocation of the warp guide-bar 8 is derived from a cam arm 20 having two cam surfaces, the cam arm being actuated by the needle bar-operating mechanism to present each cam surface in turn to an end of the guide-bar which is biased endwise towards the arm. Yarn-sensing means are provided to stop the machine in the event of yarn breakage. Specifications 223,342 and 292,831 also are referred to.
