A spin-drier comprising a motor-driven resiliently mounted imperforate drum 25, Fig. 1, rotatable in a casing 10 having a curved front and a flat rear wall may be held adjacent a sink or the like by a support 56, Fig. 6, of stirrupshape having a channel part 67 for embracing and gripping the edge of the sink &c. and an adjustably attachable base 63, Fig. 8, which carries suction cups 61 for adherence to the sink side. A vertical part 59 of the support 56 contacts the flat rear wall 49 of the casing 10 and the base 63 is screwed to a horizontal support part 57 which in turn is secured to the casing base 50 by screws 60 through the intermediary of rubber bushes 51. In a free-standing spin-drier the support 56 and base 63 &c. is replaced by a plate 52, Fig. 9, carrying rubber feet or suction cups 54. The drier cover 14 when closed allows cover locking interengagement of a pivoted knob 32, Fig. 5, protruding through the casing and a hook 30 depending from the cover. This pivotal locking movement of the knob 32 allows the switching on of the motor through a switch 44, Fig. 1, by a lever 37 and associated rod 39, pivoted plate 40 and lever 43, and the knob 32 cannot be again actuated until the lever 37 has moved the switch 44 to the " off." During extraction the water rises up the drum walls passes through grooves 46 formed on the cover 14 to a stationary annular channel 12 from whence it flows from the drier through duets 47, Figs. 1, 5. A water-collecting chamber and drainage pipe 70, 73, Fig. 10, may be attached to the drier wall 49 by suction cups 61.
