Abstract
Transparent conductive layers, e.g. symbolshaped electrodes, can be formed on glass, plastics or mica plates, which may be in the shape of the symbols, by causing vapours of tin, titanium, indium or silicon tetrachlorides to deposit an oxide of the metal on the surface of the heated plates. Alternatively tin chloride in suspension can be sprayed on the heated plates to produce a tin oxide layer thereon, or metallic salts can be applied to the plates which are subsequently heated to form layers of the oxides. If only a portion of the plate is to be provided with a conductive layer then provision is made for heating only that portion of the plate. Alternatively the entire plate is heated and the metallic compound for forming the oxide layer is applied through a template, e.g. by spraying.
