Abstract
907,455. Toothed gearing. HEATON, H. Aug. 25, 1960 [March 23, 1960], No. 10211/60. Class 80 (1). In a combination of chain and toothed epicyclic gearing an output " sun " sprocket 36, Fig. 1, is driven by a chain 34 enveloping a number of planetary sprockets 30, 32 on a driving carrier 22, each sprocket 30 being coupled through a respective gear train 28 to a planetary pinion 281 engaging a common reaction sun-gear 10. The sprockets 32 are carried by spokes 31 and are adjustable for chain tensioning. As shown in Fig. 2 the chain gearing is duplicated on each side of the carrier 22 to provide two similar output sun sprockets 35, 36 which are rotatable on the fixed shaft 11 of the gear 10 and which are coupled to output pulleys 37, 38. The planetary pinions 281, gear trains 28 and sprockets 30 rotate in bifurcated spokes 21 on the carrier 22, the latter being shown as a worm wheel driven by a worm 23.
