Abstract

Woven and knitted fabrics of synthetic polymer filaments are dyed and finished by treating with a dilute aqueous solution of non-degraded starch containing a dissolved or dispersed dyestuff, squeezing out the excess liquor and subsequently heating the fabric at a temperature of 150-230 DEG C. for from 20 seconds to 2 minutes while keeping its dimensions constant. Specified synthetic polymers are polyamides and aromatic polyesters. Specified dyestuffs are indanthrene and pyrazolone dyestuffs. Examples are given.
