Abstract

905,915. Mowing machines. LANDMASTER Ltd. July 1, 1960 [July 3, 1959], No. 22935/59. Class 6(3). A cutter-bar attachment for a walktype tractor T comprises a cutter-bar 16 with a beam 15 extending rearwardly therefrom, a clamp 18, intermediately of the length of the beam, to engage around the wheel-axle 5 of the tractor, means 27 at the rear of the beam to secure it to the rear of the tractor, a shaft 39 drivable from the tractor and carrying means whereby it can reciprocate the knifebar 53 of the cutter-bar. The axle 5 is surrounded by a bearing 10, 11 of which the stationary sleeve 11 can be gripped by the two-part hinged clamp 18, Fig. 2. The rear fixing means 27 comprises a U-shaped bracket 29 fixed to the tractor, a sleeve 28 carried by the beam, and a lever 30 having pins 32 engaging both the sleeve and the bight of the bracket; rotation of the lever moves the beam 15 relatively to the tractor thus tightening or loosening a belt-drive 66 to the shaft 39. The drive to the knife bar is transmitted by a crank 41 and pitman 42 to a bell-crank 46 of which one arm 50 terminates in a ball 51 received between abutments 52. Cutting-height is adjustable by a shoe 57 supported by an adjustable strut 58. Specification 714,394 is referred to.
