Abstract

905,381. Pipe end fittings. TECALEMIT Ltd. Oct. 5, 1960, No. 34218/60. Class 99(1). The end of a tube 1, at least the outer part of which is formed of a resiliently deformable material, is gripped on to the spigot 7 of a connector 2 by a separate metal ferrule 13 which is formed with rings of circumferentially spaced depressions 17, 18 where the metal of the ferrule is displaced inwardly into the material of the tube, one or more of the depressions 17 being deeper than and entering more deeply into the material of the tube than one or more of the depressions 18. As shown, the spigot is formed with circumferential grooves and is provided with a flange 8 which is engaged by the end of the tube. A groove 9 is provided behind the flange 8 for wedging engagement by an internal flange 16 on the ferrule 13. The tube 1 consists of an inner core 10 of Nylon 11, an intermediate layer 11 of " Terylene " (Registered Trade Mark) and an outer layer 12 of Nylon 11 which may include stablilizing agents to resist the effects of light and changes in temperature.
