Abstract
Pharmaceutical and veterinary compositions comprise a tetracycline antibiotic (many examples being given) and an adjuvant compound selected from pyromellitic acid; trimellitic acid-1,2-anhydride; rhodizonic acid; disodium 2,3-pyrazine disulphonate; 2-naphthol-8-sulphonic acid; 1 - naphthol - 4 - sulphonic acid; salicylaldehyde; compounds of the general formula <FORM:0905092/VI/1> wherein R1 and R2 are the same and may be hydroxycarboxy lower (C1-6) alkyl or alkyl radicals or R1 is hydroxy and R2 is a hydroxycarboxy lower alkyl, phenyl, xylyl or benzyl radical or R1 is the potassium salt of a hydroxy radical and R2 is the phthalic radical or R1 is hydrogen and R2 is hexahydrohexyl; tri-(2-carboxyethyl) phosphine hydrochloride and bis-(2-carboxyethy) phenyl phosphine oxide and simple salts of these compounds not already in simple salt form and salts with tetracycline compounds. The compositions may be in conventional forms suitable for oral and parenteral administration including mixtures with animal feedstuffs.
