Abstract
904,202. Footwear. SACHS, M. Aug. 22, 1958 [Aug. 23, 1957; Aug. 15, 1958], No. 27096/58. Class 17 (2). A shoe comprises a sole structure including an overlying portion 16a, an underlying portion 16 extending in the heel area, and a connection between the portions in the heel area, the overlying portion being slidable lengthwise of the shoe relatively to the underlying portion while attached thereto, and resilient means 17 yieldably opposing rearward sliding. As shown in Fig. 1, the overlying portion includes a forepart 18 secured to the front part of the sole, a section 17 of elastic material, and a stud 20 engaging in a key-hole socket 22. The string- like rear portion of the upper, which may comprise an endless band arranged in two loops interconnected by slidable couples, extends between channels 23, 24 in the portions 16a, 16 and may have a loop caught by stud 20. Alternatively the overlying portion may comprise an upper layer and a lower layer with a releasable flap between which the string-like upper extends. Member 16a may be entirely of elastic material. In the construction shown in Fig. 7 the overlying portion comprises a shortened front portion 52, an elastic portion 51, a rear portion with an integral upper part 49, and two attaching studs 53, 54. Fig. 8 shows a shoe with no upper at the rear, and with the overlying portion attached to the underlying portion by a stud 72 at the heel, and three studs 65, 66, 67 at the forepart. The upper 75 at the heel may comprise a separate unit with elastic material forming the complete bottom portion 76, as in Fig. 17, or a partial bottom portion 101, as in Fig. 16. The stud connecting the overlying and underlying portions then passes through a grommet 77 or to the rear of portion 101, with the portions 76 or 101 forming a second overlying portion. A further stud may be arranged at the shank of the sole, and the whole of the underlying portion, or the portions thereof surrounding the key-hole openings, may be of elastic material. The structure at the shank may comprise an upper portion 103 attached to overlying portions 104 joined to a portion 105 which is elastic at least transversely, and may be detachably connected by means of studs 107. Specifications 733,616, 904,203, and 904,204, are referred to.
