Abstract
Metals forming anionic complexes, for example vanadium, molybdenum, and especially uranium, are recovered from acid solutions also containing silica, by contacting the solution with an anion-exchange resin derived from an organic polymer containing covalently bound chlorine, by replacing at least part of said chlorine by basic nitrogen containing groups. The solution may also contain ferric ions. Preferably between 1% and 50% of the chlorine is replaced by basic nitrogen containing groups. The resin may be prepared by reacting polyvinyl chloride with hexa-methylene diamine, for example in the form of a 70% to 90% aqueous solution for 3 to 44 hours at 90 DEG C. to 110 DEG C. Uranium may be elected from the resin with an aqueous acidic (ph \sU 1) metal or ammonium sulphate, chloride, or nitrate. p Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 848,132 and 848,764.
