892,817. Hydraulic brakes. HACKETT, N.H. June 18, 1958 [June 25, 1957], No. 19525/58. Class 103 (1). A running brake unit CD, for use in an hydraulic brake system of the kind including a master cylinder G and a plurality of pressureoperated sub-systems AB, respectively associated with a plurality of operating cylinders 17, 18, each operating cylinder having a pressurefluid inlet 27, 28 for connection to the master cylinder G, a pressure-fluid outlet 21 or 22 for connection to its associated sub-system, a sealing-ring support 31 or 32 in the operating cylinder, and a sealing-ring 29 or 30 sealing the support to the operating cylinder, each sealing- ring forming a movable pressure barrier between the inlet 27 or 28 and the outlet 21 or 22 in normal operation of the unit and preventing fluid-pressure flow from the inlet to the outlet of its operating cylinder on failure of the associated sub-system, is provided with sealing- ring supports which are each movably adjustable to condition the unit for bleeding and fluid replenishment and for normal operation of the unit. As shown in Fig. 3, the supports 31 or 32 and the sealing-rings 29 and 30 are drawn to the right in their cylinders to allow free flow of liquid during bleeding or fluid replenishment. Various modifications are described and shown. For example, there may be a parking brake J, Fig. 1, and Fig. 11, associated with an ordinary hand-lever M instead of the direct line H.
