Abstract

899,934. Forage harvesters. KIDD, A. W. Oct. 7, 1959 [Oct. 7, 1958], No. 31903/58. Class 6(3). Relates to a forage-harvester of the type wherein pivoted flails 12 on a rotor 10 revolve within a housing 15 open on the underside and having a front wall 18 past which the cut crop is swept by the flail-blades 14. According to the invention, the bottom edge 22 of the front wall is curved: downwardly and then. extends forwardly away from the rotor so as to define a smooth convergent entry for the crop. The forward portion 25 has an upturnedfront-edge 26. The front wall above the edge 22 is curved concentrically with the rotor and then extends tangentially to join a crop-discharge shoot 20. Specification 893,656 is referred to in the Provisional Specification.
