Abstract

A chromatographic separation apparatus comprises a glass capillary helix made of glass or quartz tubular filament of circular cross-section, the filament having an external diameter of less than 5 mm. Such helices are said to be flexible and elastic and extendable along their longitudinal axes without breaking. Preferably the filament internal diameter is from 0,025 to 1 mm., the helix has a diameter of 5 to 15 cms. and an overall length of 1 to 500 metres.
