Abstract

899,560. Safety harnesses mounting. TELEFLEX PRODUCTS Ltd. Sept. 9, 1960 [Sept. 11, 1959], No. 31130/59. Class 141 [Also in Group XIV] In a vehicle seat having an internal framework comprising two stiff L-shaped side portions 13, 14 connected by stiff transverse members 15-18, at least one inertia reel for safety harness is secured to at least one of the transverse members. The transverse members may be hollow to accommodate the reels as at 24-26 and slotted for the emergence of the straps 27-29. Alternatively the reels may be fixed between plates welded to the transverse members, Figs. 4-9 (not shown). There may be a single strap 29 and inertia reel 26, two straps 27, 28 each associated with an inertia reel or two straps controlled by a single inertia reel as in Fig. 3 (not shown). Each inertia reel is associated with an automatic take-up coil spring. The side portions of the framework are provided with anchorages 38, 39 for the ends of lap straps 40, 41, one or both of the anchorages consisting of an inertia reel. The upholstery 62, 63 has flared openings 66 leading from slots 67 for the shoulder straps and has corner shapings 64, 65 forming passages for the lap straps. Specification 888,210 is referred to.
