Abstract

899,006. Setting hosiery. SILER CITY MANUFACTURING CO., Inc. Oct. 20, 1958 [Oct. 31, 1957], No. 33436/58. Class 42 (1). A form for steam setting hosiery comprises a thin generally flat solid form comprising metal and transparent solidified plastic, the metal extending substantially throughout the length of the form and the solidified plastic being provided at least where a plurality of position-indicating portions of the hosiery will lie, and being capable of withstanding steam at a temperature in the neighbourhood of 260‹ F. As shown, form 20 is composed of aluminium and has windows 22, 23, 24 and 25 at appropriateposition indicating positions. The whole form may be covered with a solidified transparent plastic film. In other embodiments, the form is made of a transparent plastic, but has reinforcing metal either through the centre or around the edge of the form.
