Abstract
Non-adherent dressings are made by applying a polysiloxane film to a porous material in such a way as not to interfere with its porosity. The base material may be a woven fabric, such as nylon taffeta, or a synthetic sponge, and the film is preferably polymerized after a solution of the constituents has been applied, either by spraying or dipping. In one example, polyurethane sponge is sprayed with a solution of methyl hydrogen siloxane in benzol, which is then polymerized by placing the sponge in an oven. In the case of woven or knitted fabrics, the coating may be applied to the fibre before it is manufactured into the fabric.
