Abstract

897,887. Hinges. PAINE, C. H. Aug. 21, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 30907/58. Class 65(2). A gate hinge member is in the form of a clamp comprising a pair of bars 1, 2 adjustably spaced apart by two cross bolts 4 to embrace a gate post 3, one of the bars being formed integrally with a hook or pin 6 for engagement by an eye 7 on the gate. The gate is carried by two such members, the pins 6 of which may be arranged out of alignment to make the gate self-closing. According to the Provisional Specification the clamp may comprise a U-shaped bar the ends of which are provided with reduced screw-threaded portions which pass through holes in a cross-bar and are secured therein by nuts; the pin or hook being formed on either the U-shaped bar or the cross-bar.
