Abstract

Synthetic resins are formed by reaction between inorganic covalent isocyanates and aliphatic or aromatic aldehydes. In examples resins are produced by reacting silicon tetraisocyanate with acetaldehyde and benzaldehyde, phosphorus triisocyanate with benzaldehyde and propionaldehyde, and arsenic triisocyanate with acetaldehyde and benzaldehyde. Phosphoryl isocyanate is also mentioned. The products from silicon isocyanate are useful in making mouldings, fibre-glass laminates and adhesives.
