Abstract
896,314. Alumina catalysts prepared electrolytically. SPENCE & SONS Ltd., PETER. March 6, 1961 [March 18, 1960], No. 9621/60. Class 41. Alumina catalysts impregnated with a metal value, are prepared by electrolysing aluminium metal in the presence of a metal salt. Aluminium may be used as both cathode and anode, or a platinum cathode may be used. In examples, ammonium formate solution is used as electrolyte, and either nickel or cobalt formate solution added continuously during electrolysis to the required amount. HCl may be used with H2PtCl6. The impregnated alumina containing nickel or cobalt oxide or platinum metal is filtered off, dried and calcined.
