Abstract

895,986. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic elements. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L.M. ERICSSON. Aug. 17, 1959 [Sept. 2, 1958], No. 28096/59. Class 40 (9). [Also in Group XIX] A shift register, counter or impulse distributer comprises a number of saturable magnetic cores, windings on which are interconnected by bi-stable relaxation circuits which assume working condition only when transferring information from one magnetic core to the next. Associated with each magnetic core M1-M3 is a pair of transistors T1, T2 which are normally blocked. In the case of an impulse counter a core 7-8 on M1 is energized by a starting impulse on contacts K3. M1 is thereby saturated to " 1 " position. Each impulse to be counted causes contacts K1 and K2 to be closed momentarily and in sequence. The impulse at K1 energizes winding 5-6 to saturate M1 to " 0 " position so inducing an impulse in winding 3-4 which renders T2 and therefore T1 conductive in the next stage. In the process T2 takes current from winding 1-2 of the associated core M2 which is therefore set to "1 " position. The impulse at K2 blocks T1 and T2 so that all transistors are now taking minimum current. In the case of a shift register every core has a winding 7-8 for the reception of the desired pattern. The circuit may be used as an impulse distributer with output leads U1.
