Abstract
895,902. Cooling cylinders and crank-cases. USTAV PRO VYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL. Sept. 5, 1958 [Sept. 19, 1957], No. 28578/58. Class 7(2). Glycol, or other liquid with a higher boiling point than water, is pump-circulated in a sealed cylinder and cylinder-head casing 2, 3 having fins 4a forming with an outer casing 5 ducts through which a fan 6 draws air. The fan 6 also draws air through ducts formed between crankcase fins 10a and a cover 9 which may be integral with the casing 5 or separated therefrom by a partition 8. A thermostat 11 controls valves 1 and 12, 13 in the liquid and air systems. In a modification, the fan 6<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, is centrifugal and blows air over the fins 4a, 10a.
