A corona voltage stabilizing tube has a tubular chrome iron cathode 2, a coaxial wire anode 3 of similar material and a source 16 of thorium oxide emitting α-particles into the discharge space of the tube. The tube is filled with hydrogen at a pressure of 8 cm. of mercury.
