Abstract
895,074. Electromagnetic lifting-devices. WILSON, L. Nov. 24, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1968], No. 39802/59. Class 35. A lifting magnet for coiled strip material 11 comprises a number of separate, sector-shaped, electromagnets 15, each having a centre pole piece 27 and two outer ones 28, 28<SP>1</SP>, and an energizing coil 23. Fig. 3 is a cross-section on the line 3-3 of one of the magnets. Flux passes circumferentially through the turns of the lifted coiled strip from the centre pole to the two outer ones of each magnet or vice versa, and adjacent electromagnets may have corresponding poles of the same or opposite polarity.
