Abstract
883,076. Gramophone centre-posts. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Sept. 15, 1960 [Oct. 2, 1959], No. 33447/59. Class 40 (2). A 45 r.p.m. adapter for a centre-post such as described in Specification 807,560 comprises a body portion 1, slidable over the centre-post of a 33/78 r.p.m. mechanism, an actuator 12 pivoted in grooves 14 and engaged by the existing post ejector, a slide 7 guided by grooves 4, movable against a spring 9 by the actuator 12 and carrying pins 8 and separator and shelf blades 15, 16 slidable transversely in grooves 3 under the action of the pins 8 in cam slots 21, 22. The upper edges 26 of the separators 15 are bevelled such that the weight of a stack of records assists retraction, while the lower edges 25 of the shelf blades 16 are bevelled so that both sets of blades are retracted by the action of removing played records. Lost motion in the openings 22, reinforced by a spring 24 ensures that the separator blades are engaged before the shelf blades are withdrawn. In the Fig. 7 embodiment. the adapter is supported by a lower member 28 which rotates about the adapter with the turntable.
