Abstract

881,869. Rectifying. COLUMBIA-SOUTHERN CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Nov. 20, 1957 [Aug. 22, 1957], No. 22746/61. Divided out of 881,867. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XXXVI] In a method of testing a rectifying equipment e.g. as disclosed in Specification 881,867 which comprises a number of parallel-connected semiconductor bridges 601, 602, 603, 604 each arm of which consists of a number of series-connected semi-conductor rectifiers, voltage measurements are first taken between corresponding rectifiers in corresponding arms of two different bridges as at 611, and then, if the voltage is not zero, the voltage across the individual rectifiers in an arm are measured to determine defective rectifiers which may then be replaced. Failure of a rectifier is manifested by a fall in its resistance. The right-hand side shows an arrangement for examining four bridge circuits. Fuses 610 are included in the bridge arms. The rectifiers are arranged in cabinets whose walls have holes through which testing probes may be inserted (Fig. 2, not shown).
