881,028. Seaming non-metallic sheet materials. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. May 23, 1960 [June 17, 1959], No. 20853/59. Class 42 (1). [Also in Group XVII] Apparatus for advancing and sealing packages having overlapping thermoplastic wrapper portions at opposite ends comprises opposed belts 12 bearing plates 13, each plate having a flexible diaphragm 14 which is pressed against the packages by reciprocating heaters 15. The diaphragms may be of glass fibre or thin copper sheet and the plates may be domed, as shown, to depress the package ends. Reciprocating member 16 and/or air jets 17 may cool the seals.
