A tape magazine for an endless tape comprises a rectangular housing 21 in which the flat spirally wound tape coil 32 is supported on a disc 26 rotatably mounted on three angularly spaced grooved wheels 27 engaging its periphery. A central boss on the housing carries posts 29 supporting a fixed disc 30 and a ring of rotatable guide wheels 31 for the inner circumference of the tape spool which unwinds radially inwards between a pair of these wheels, and passes through a slot 34 in the disc 30 over a lubricating pad 35 which engages the uncoated tape face. The tape passes therefrom over a spring tensioned roller 36, guide rollers 43 and over a further spring-tensioned roller 39 to the outer circumference of the spool. The magazine is positioned by pins 47 and a stop 48 on a deck 2, in which position drive rollers 8, 10 projecting from the deck, engages respectively, the tape as it passes over roller 39 and the periphery of disc 26. At the same time the tape, where it extends between the guide rollers 43. is pressed by guide shields 44 disposed on the magazine against record/erase units 14 on the deck 2. The top disc 30 may have a series of rollers depending from its periphery for constraining the outer circumference of the spool.
