Abstract

889,638. Distribution boards. LIGHT & POWER ACCESSORIES CO. Ltd., and EDWARDS, J. May 27, 1960 [June 11, 1959], No. 19995/59. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] A mobile distribution chamber comprises a steel box 1 having sides 3, 4, 5, 6 and a removable cover 13, the sides 4, 6 having wings 7, 8 and 9, 10 to which are secured hoops 16, 17 enabling the box to be rolled along the ground. The box is sealed by a gasket 14 and carries waterproof supply inlet and outlet sockets 26, 28 and feeder sockets 29, the sockets being insulated from the box if earth leakage is provided. The box contains bus-bars 19 mounted on insulators 20 secured to an insulating panel 21, the bars being screened if necessary by a plate 22. Fuses 24 are mounted on platforms 23 and engage rubber strips 25 to prevent dislodgement during rolling. Alternatively the box may house circuit-breakers, transformers and other distribution apparatus. The hoops are reinforced by cross-ties 18 which may be varied in number and sockets 30 are provided to support a standard carrying a flood lamp, Fig. 4 (not shown), or overhead cables. The hoops may be increased in diameter so that the whole unit may serve as a cable-carrying drum. For tropical use the box may be provided with a shade.
