Abstract

A bimetallic material consists of a ferrous base overlaid with an alloy having the following percentage composition, by weight:- .Ni.20-30 .Ti or Zr.0,1- 1 .Cu.the remainder The copper alloy may be applied using an inert-gas-shielded arc welding torch with a consumable electrode and supplementary cold filler wire both of the above composition. The surface of the overlay is subsequently machined to give a flat surface.
