Abstract
A flooring or surfacing compound comprises (a) an aggregate, such as cast iron, alumina, flint, marble, limestone, or mixtures p there of, graded from 1/4 inch. screening to dust, and (b) cement, to which has been added stearic acid, in sufficient amounts to react with any free lime (e.g. 0,5% to 10% by weight), and a polyvinyl compound in powder form (e.g. 0,5% to 10% by weight each of styrene-based polymer and polyvinyl alcohol), with or without a dispersing agent such as calcium lignosulphonate (up to 3% by weight) and/or a colouring agent.
