Abstract
<PICT:0889151/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0889151/IV (c)/2> Apparatus for the continuous dyeing of textile material comprising means for impregnating the material with dye liquor, an elongated substantially vertical chamber 7 having an extrance at the upper end thereof and an exit at the lower end thereof, means for heating the interior of the chamber and means for passing the impregnated material through the chamber in a downward direction wherein the means for impregnating the material with dye liquor comprises at least a pair of rollers 70a and 70b, each having a serrated peripheral edge and mounted for rotation upon a common shaft 73, separate baths 3 associated with each roller containing different coloured dye liquors so that the roller is partly immersed in said liquor (when the apparatus is in use), and means for passing the fabric 1 to be dyed over and in contact with the rollers. A central division 72 may divide the bath into two compartments in which different dye liquors are placed. The above apparatus enables material to be dyed in two or more colours in parallel strips and the rollers are spaced sufficiently apart for the different dye liquors to merge with one another but not to overlap at the join.
