A sanitary belt is made from a strip, or strips, of non-elastic material which are rendered stretchable, so as to fit the body, by elastic threads which are sewn on thereto while under tension. The belt may be made from a single length of fabric 1 which is brought round from opposite sides of the body and the end portions joined to form a sling 2. This is provided with attachment buttons and a rubber pad holder 7.
