887,985. Testing the vitality of teeth. CARR, H. G., and HERVEY, G. R. Nov. 17, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39032/59. Class 81 (2). Apparatus for testing the vitality of a tooth comprises an electrical generator providing a square-wave output voltage from zero to 50 volts peak-to-peak having a frequency in the region of 200 c/s. and including a potentiometer VR1 to vary the output voltage, the output leads A1, A2 being connected to an exploring electrode and a saliva ejector, respectively. Current is supplied by a 30-volt battery B through a switch S and the potentiometer to an oscillator including transistors T1, T2. In use, the exploring electrode is applied to a tooth and the output voltage increased gradually until pain is felt.
