Abstract

The reaction product of a polyisocyanate and a hydroxyl ended polyether is treated with water in the presence of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a high molecular weight organic compound containing one or more -SO3H or -OSO3H groups together with a hydrocarbon radical containing at least 10 carbon atoms to give a cellular polyurethane. Preferred proportions are 0,05% to 5% relative to the polyether, but proportions outside this range may be used. Lists of suitable reactants are given and optional ingredients include catalysts, e.g. tertiary amines, non ionic surface active agents, silicone oils, pigments, plasticizers and fire proofers.ALSO:The reaction product of a polyisocyanate and a hydroxyl-ended polyether is treated with water in the presence of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a high molecular weight organic compound containing one or more-503H or-0503H groups together with a hydrocarbon radical containing at least 10 carbon atoms to give a cellular polyurethane. Preferred proportions are 0,05% to 5% relative to the polyether, but proportions outside this range may be used. Optional ingredients include catalysts e.g. tertiary amines, non ionic surface active agents, silicone oils, pigments, plasticizers and fire proofers. Lists of suitable reactants are given.
