Abstract
887,079. Positive clutches. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. May 4, 1959 [May 31, 1958], No. 15185/59. Class 80 (2). An arrangement for ensuring the synchronous engagement of a driving pinion 9 with a shaft 10 comprises a solenoid 1 in a hub member 2 splined to shaft 10 at 2a, energizing of the solenoid causing movement to the left of an armature 3 splined to pinion 9 at 3a whereby a conical member 4 on the armature engages with and moves a conical ring 5 on hub 2 against the force of a spring 8 until stop-pins 6 on the hub engage the central portions of tapered notches 5<SP>1</SP> in ring 5 to permit interlocking of facial teeth 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> on members 2, 3. Current is supplied to the solenoid from a conductor 14, through a contact 13 and a stud 12, and the current may be momentarily increased during gear shift through a time-lag relay or limit switch.
