Abstract

886,895. Removing bark from tree stems. RUPPERT, E., and KASTENMULLER, S. Nov. 1, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 37448/60. Class 145. Bark is removed from tree stems 5 by chains 2 tensioned between two rotating discs 3 and the chains have links having a cross-section with corners, for example, a rectangular or hexagonal cross-section. The links may of oval or elongated form but are preferably circular so that they rotate relatively to each other and distribute wear. The discs 3 are journalled in arms 7 pivotally adjustable for height and may be rotated with or against the direction of longitudinal advance of the stem 5. The stem may be rotated about it axis A.
