Abstract

885,001. Refractory bricks. HARBISONWALKER REFRACTORIES CO. Jan. 15, 1958 [Jan. 28, 1957], No. 1425/58. Class 51 (2). A metal cased basic refractory brick comprises overlapping metal channels 3 and 4 with a U- shaped stirrup 6 having its ends disposed between the flanges of said channels and spot welded thereto as at 7 to prevent the whole or part of the block from falling out. A hanger recess 2 is formed at one end and the stirrups are made narrow enough to fit the space between the recess and the opposite edge of the brick. The inner stirrup may be coated with a protective oxide, e.g. magnesia, beryllia, alumina, zirconia or silica. Specification 638,767 is referred to.
