873,869. Sorting solid materials. FITZGERALD, A. S. April 28, 1959 [April 28, 1958], No. 14485/59. Addition to 849,822. Class 117 [Also in Groups XIX and XXX] The apparatus is similar to that described in the parent Specification, but the recess 30 formed between members 31, 32, is tapered instead of being formed by a number of stepped sections. The vibrator previously described for dislodging drills which are stuck, is replaced by an electromagnetic device for attracting the plate 31, against the action of springs 71, after gauging has taken place. This movement, which may be quite small, is sufficient to dislodge the drill which has just been gauged in order that it may fall by gravity into one of the compartments 8.
