873,175. Valves. TEVES, H., TEVES, E. A., and TAUSEND, M., [trading as TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM.-GES., ALFRED]. Sept. 23, 1957 [Nov. 15, 1956], No. 29832/57. Class 135. [Also in Group XXXII] A pressure regulator for interrelating the pressures of gaseous or liquid media in high and low-pressure conduits 2, 5 respectively, and in which a displaceable pressure-responsive element or piston 8 subject to the action of a spring 6 is arranged between the high and lowpressure conduits, said element having a valve opening and a closure member 9 therefor and said closure member being subject to the action of a control member or second piston 10 which is displaceable under the low-pressure against the action of a second spring 11, is characterized in that means is provided for varying the rate of one of said springs. The spring 11 is anchored at one end 14 to a fixed pin 13 and its coils are engaged by an internally-threaded sleeve 15 carrying a pinion which is rotatable manually through a rack-and-screw device 16, 18 to vary the effective number of turns of the spring. In a modification, the spring 11 is anchored to a fixed sleeve and its coils are engaged internally by a threaded bolt to vary the number of turns.
